I am now in COSTA RICA! I left the US on Sunday and the plane ride was 4 hours. The whole ride was a mixture of excitement and anxiety. When I got to the airport in CR (and went through customs) three members from the LC were there to greet me: Mariano, Tania, and Kenny. They were all relly nice. Then we went to the house of the VP ICX, Jose, where we had lunch. Afterwards we spent a few hours talking with other members of the LC (well me mostly listening because when they spoke really quickly with each other, I could not understand.) Later I went to Mariano´s house where I am staying this week until I start my job. He was assigned as my AIESEC buddy. His family is really nice and very hospitable. Yesterday, I got to know other members of the LC. Tania took me around San Jose, showing me the sites in the capital. Later I went to see Iron Man with three guys from the LC. It only cost 1800 colones which is like $3.50! I actually really enjoyed the movie since it was not something I would usually pick to watch but it was a super hero movie with a very real modern day message and I appreciated it because it actually had strong plot unlike some other superhero movies. Later in the night I went to this place called Jazz Cafe, which was a bar with live music. I tried the country´s beers :Imperial and Pilsen. They were pretty cheap: about 2 dollars. I also met the other trainees there who are from Chile, Austraila and Germany. They invited me to go to a really nice Manuel Antonio National Park this weekend, which has a beach and lots of trees, animals and birds. I am ecstatic to get to know the other trainees and to see a little more about what Costa Rica have to offer. My job actually won´t start until next week because Madre Verde wanted to wait for the other trainee to arrive. His name is Andrew and he is from Washington. Tomorrow I will me li ling who is the trainee from Panama and since I have been writing her and talking to her on messenger I feel like I already know her. More to come soon...
